In addition to being regulated by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, children’s gear is also voluntarily monitored by the manufacturers and by such organizations as the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA). It issues a “Certified” seal that states that a product has met voluntary standards under the guidelines of the American Society for Testing and Materials.
